There is no doubt Michael Connelly has his writing style and narrative imagination well honed. His Harry Bosch series is tight, nicely complex and multi-faceted. His characters are American real, well after Trump, nothing can surprise. American fiction is pretty much reality or if not someone will make it so. A tale that has lots of interest and plenty of action but delivered in a thoughtful, measured way that doesn’t exhaust but leaves you satisfied. Connelly will leave a nice invented fictional world behind him when he or Harry Bosch depart. Maybe worth another half star if you like detective yarns.
