June 20 2007 - The Slice of SciFi podcast drew my attention to the book Day Watch and in turn this led me to look at "The Night Watch", by Sergei Lukyanenko which is translated from Russian. There are three volumes. The other two being "Day Watch", and "Twilight Watch" and soon to be released Last Watch.


June 20 2007 - I came across the book "The Oxford Book of Science Fiction Stories" edited by Tom Shippey, published by Oxford University Press in 1992. The acknowledgements discuss science fiction fan-clubs in Birmingham and Leeds in the United Kingdoma as well as those of Leeds and Oxford Universities. I need to try and track them down.

There is also an interesting reference to science fiction as being 'fabril literature' a term developed by Dr James Bradley.
